Left. A Life on the Brink
Left: A Life on the Brink
There I was, a shell of my former self, weighing just 93 pounds and living on the streets. Every day was a struggle, filled with fear, pain, and the relentless grip of addiction to meth and heroin. Endocarditis had ravaged my body twice, leaving a hole in my heart. I was on the edge, ready for my life to end. This picture, taken by my mom when she came to rescue me, captures the depths of my despair.
Tonight, I took a picture that tells a different story. No angles, no filters, just pure happiness. I am now 9 months clean. It wasn't an easy road—months of fighting in the hospital, surviving heart surgery, and slowly but surely gaining 40 pounds. I have a place to call home now, and my family and two cats have been my pillars of support.
My journey is a testament to the power of recovery. It is possible, and it is worth every moment of the fight. My story is one of hope, resilience, and the incredible strength of the human spirit. Recovery is not just a dream; it’s a reality waiting to be embraced.
Recovery is PossibleTo anyone who feels lost or hopeless, remember this: recovery is within reach. No matter how deep the darkness, there is always a way out. I’ve been there, and I’ve made it through. You can too.
